  • Espn aired two fabulous shows about Alaskan-Adventures. One depicts Rocky and several pro football players fishing for huge salmon and trophy pike. The other is an incredible bow hunting video of a trophy Caribou hunt that went Pope and Young. Some of the most exciting outdoor film ever shot in Alaska. These can be obtained from Second Mile Productions: 615-338-0234.

  • Rocky's newest sensation:  An incredible book, "Wild Men, Wild Alaska" written by him about some of the terrific adventures he and his clients have experienced, (some very famous ones).  Available here, signed by Rocky and also at Amazon, Wal-Mart, Borders, and other bookstores.

  • Another good book, "The Call of Alaska" with personal stories of hunting and fishing in Alaska written by Rocky's father, Floyd C. McElveen, internationally published author, and retired Alaskan Missionary.  A real value at $7.95.

  • Alaska Game Bags - Please purchase official Alaska game bags online prior to your arrival and have them sent to the Holitna Lodge:  Alaskan-Adventures PO Box 90 Mile 36 Sleetmute, Alaska. we recommend the following bags:  AMP7 Alaska Pack - 7 bag package which includes bags, tags, and gloves. This will handle 2 Caribou or 1 Moose. The MEC460 4 pack will handle one animal and the ATB3648 is great for cape/hide transportation.

  • Alaska Sausage and Seafood Company - They do an excellent job of processing your meat and you can order a brochure from them to get more info as well. 1-800-798-3636.

  • Cabela's and Schnee's are excellent hunting outfitters for your clothing/equipment needs:

    • Schnee's 1-800-922-1562 or online at: http://www.schnees.com  Go to their online catalog.  We strongly advise the 14" Arctic boot for your trip.  Sorrel type boots, w/ rubber bottoms and a leather upper are a must w/ a minimum of 400 Gram Thinsulate.  No matter the claims, all leather footwear is never completely waterproof.

    • Cabela's 1-800-237-4444 or online at:  http://www.cabelas.com  Go to their Clothing section, choose Big Game Clothing, then choose Camouflage Quiet Rainwear.  We urgently suggest the Cabelas MT050 Quiet Pack pants and jacket, or the Cabelas Gore-Tex Ambush 2001 set is also acceptable.  Remember trophy game hunting is very difficult if you wear noisy rain gear.  Cabelas also offers a good economical boot.  It is the Cabelas Gore-Tex Guide Boot, and is under their Winter Footwear section, not the Hunting Footwear section.   Improper clothing can result in a miserable trip, so buy footwear and raingear that is at least comparable to the above suggestions.

  • Scenic cam views of Alaska in real time:

Tell them you are with "Alaskan-Adventures". Please save your confirmation number for us.  Call them at: 1-800-478-3346 or if in Anchorage: 1-907-243-4044, Fax: 1-907-248-6853 or E-mail them at:  admin@puffininn.net   Address:  4400 Spenard Rd, Anchorage, AK 99517-3399.

  • There are many online travel services:  A couple are listed on our Favorite Sites Page.  We also recommend and frequently use World Express Travel at 800-779-3705.  Ask for Barbara Geen.  Tell her you are with Alaskan-Adventures.  She understands all the nuances involved.

  • Taxidermist-In Anchorage see Russell Knight on 7329 Arctic Blvd in Anchorage.  He will be happy to advise you on caping strategies and techniques and has a reasonable price on the caping salt you will need in the woods for your animal.   In California Bratcher Fish Mounts can make you a beautiful replica mount.  Just send some photos and measurements of your fish.
